What is Psychotherapeutic Counselling?
If you are you seeking a more in-depth and comprehensive approach to therapy and to really get to the source of present emotional distress, then then psychotherapeutic counselling offers you this. It is not a quick fix but rather looks to the past to find the origins of the present issues. I believe that most of our present day problems have their source in our past and only by exploring this will we find lasting solutions. In other words, we react not to the present but to the past. This well grounded therapy looks at the underlying factors that contribute to your current emotional and psychological state, aiming to bring about long-lasting and meaningful change. It can be hard work at times but who can put a price on emotional well being. In psychodynamic counselling, with the help of a skilled therapist, we bring to consciousness feelings and thought patterns that you may not have been aware of but which are influencing present day life, especially relationships. We protect ourselves from these buried thoughts and feelings as defence mechanisms such as laughter and get-over-it approaches but this keeps the real issues suppressed only for them to appear in other areas of life with unexpected regularity. We become victims to our past experiences and traumas. Would it not be better to get to the root of these problems, re-examine them and let them go rather than suppress them temporarily through defensive behaviours?

In psychotherapeutic counselling, the focus is on creating a safe and supportive environment for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through this process, you can work through unresolved issues, improve your relationships and better navigate life's challenges with a newfound sense of clarity and empowerment. Whether you are dealing with past traumas, relationship difficulties, or struggles with self-esteem, psychodynamic counseling will help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and make positive changes in your life. I am committed to providing personalised form of support on your therapeutic journey and welcome you get in touch for a free informal initial discussion.

Religion, Spirituality and Spiritual Abuse
Having lived in South East Asia for many years I have a unique view into many relgious practices, including inter-religous dialogue. A healthy spirituality can be a great support in life giving a foundation to what could otherwise be a chaotic existence. However a distorted view of religion can also can be a source of much anguish and suffering and which can take much effort to free ourselves from. Having witnessed first hand both sides of the religous debate I have a particular interest in working with those who have suffered from spiritual abluse and who are striving to set themselves free from its control.
